Design of a compact triple-band antenna for Bluetooth/WLAN/WiMAX applications

Abstract

New design of a printed monopole antenna with two U-type slots for multi operating bands of wireless communication systems is presented. The proposed antenna, which occupies a small size of 30 ×30 ×1m m 3 , has triple-band (2.16-2.75 GHz, 3.51-3.8 GHz, and 5.0-6.5 GHz) for covering all the Bluetooth bands, WiMAX bands and WLAN bands. Details of the proposed antenna design are described and the effects of design parameters on antenna performance are investigated. This antenna configuration would be quite useful for wireless communication systems.
