PAPR reduction of uplink for carrier aggregation in LTE-Advanced

Abstract

Carrier aggregation is one technique in LTE-A system can extend the bandwidth up to 100MHz and increase the downlink and uplink spectral efficiency. In particular N-x-SC-FDMA has been agreed as the uplink bandwidth extension scheme. Nevertheless, the PAPR remains an important issue for a UE because it determines the PA efficiency and equivalently the coverage when multi-carrier transmission is employed. The LTE-A system seems as LTE when only one component carrier has been aggregated. Several scenarios of different component carriers for carrier aggregation has been analyzed by a combined method, and the simulation results show that the performance of PAPR improved 2dB approximately.
