The introduction of video capable sensors has posed new challenges for classic Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) that are henceforth required to provide both power and quality requirements. These challenges can be addressed by using proper video compression and transmission algorithm. High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) is the new generation of video compression standard with higher compression capability than previous standards. HEVC allows for high compression rates with an acceptable video quality. This paper proposes an innovative algorithm for considering both power and quality on transmission of HEVC video over WSN. First in order to use proper tools of HEVC standard, configuration analysis based on total consumed power (processing and transmission) in nodes is done. After choosing best configuration, a new quality aware video transmission algorithm for prolonging network lifetime is proposed. Experimental results show better performance of proposed algorithm in both prolonging network lifetime and guaranteeing acceptable video quality.
