A simple printed square monopole antenna with wideband circular polarization

Abstract

A printed loop monopole antenna with wideband circular polarization is presented. The wideband circular polarization is achieved by asymmetrical excitation of hemicycle ground plane and planar loop monopole antenna. The combined radiation provides a wide axial-ratio bandwidth spanning from 1.73to 3.10GHz (54.8%). A parametric study of the key geometric parameters is given for the better understanding of the radiation mechanism.
