Economic dispatch of microgrid with smart energy storage systems using Particle Swarm Optimization

Abstract

With Increasing electricity demand in factual life, microgrid plays a vital role in electricity generation using renewables. The concept of thermochemical storage (TCS) and ice-storage air conditioner is included in this paper to meet out heating and cooling demand under severe weather conditions. In smart thermochemical storage, the heat from the solar collectors and fuel cell will be effectively stored. Emissions from microgrid have considerable impact to the environment. A constraint is added to the objective function in order to reduce the effect of emission along with cost minimization. Cost minimization analysis involves purchase cost and sold cost of electricity from microgrid to main grid. The complete problem is solved using Particle Swarm Optimization technique which is based on swarm intelligence.
