Abstract

The area of emerging and futuristic intelligent body-implantable networked devices will begin to materialize as one of the next big themes in future personal computing, offering huge rewards to society if implemented correctly. With this technology potentially beginning to enter the mainstream in the next 5-15 years considerable effort is required to develop legislation, policies, procedures, device and network security, and to convince the general public that this technology is the next logical step in personal computing. This article investigates these systems and analyses the benefits and hurdles the technology is likely to face if we are to realize such systems in our societies of tomorrow.
