Abstract

Abstract This chapter offers a reading of Roberto Bolaño's novel 2666, an apocalyptic account of degeneration in the twentieth century using a wide array of characters, locations, time periods, and stories within stories. Among the novel's many themes are the unsolved female homicides (femicides) in Ciudad Juárez (called Santa Teresa in the novel) in Mexico and the quest by four professors for a missing writer.
