Abstract

This letter proposes a compact cascaded MMI-based polarization beam splitter on silicon-on-insulator, which demonstrates 20 nm bandwidth for transverse-electric polarization and 35 nm bandwidth for transverse-magnetic polarization with extinction ratio more than 20 dB experimentally.
