Levantamento Gravimétrico Na Região Dos Altos Estruturais De Pitanga, Artemis, Pau D´alho E Jibóia - Porção Nordeste Da Bacia Sedimentar Do Paraná

Abstract

A geophysical survey using the gravimetric method associated with the differential GPS technic as support in the gravimetric survey in the structural highs named Pitanga, Artemis, Pau D`Alho and Jibóia, located in the northeast portion from Paraná Sedimentary Basin, southeast Brazil, was performed. Structural features (alignments) related to the main known trends recognized in previous studies in the Paraná Basin were recognized. Sector Pitanga/Artemis and Pau D`Alho/Jibóia were determined based in the alignments and also anomalies concentrations. Gravimetric signatures with NE-SW trend were observed in the Bouguer anomaly map. These anomalies are related to the basement pre-existing weak zones and faults (joints and fractures) that played the role of weakness plans that allowed the basic rocks displacement into the sediments. Such trends are recognized for the Pau D`Alho and Jibóia highs. Less extended alignments with NE-SW, E-W and N-S directions are also recognized and related to the recent reactivated faults in the basin. Gravimetric modeling indicate concordance with the structural and geologic features known in surface mapping and also for the geophysical studies that determined a sediment thickness around 500 meters in the highs area and around 1.000 meters for the area nearby the structural highs. The geophysical method of gravimetry and the use of the DGPS technic are valuable tools in the identification, recognization and consolidation of geologic and structural features that directly determined the structural highs evolution and their formation in this portion from Paraná Sedimentary Basin.
