Plasmonic Metamaterials

Abstract

Yen et al. (2004) reported the experimental result and theoretical verication of the magnetic metamaterials that act at THz frequencies. ey fabricated an array of nonmagnetic and conducting SRRs, as shown in Figure 20.4. An SRR consists of two concentric square rings with a gap situated oppositely. e gaps are introduced to govern the direction of an AC current aroundthe two rings. When a time-varying external magnetic eld H is applied to the SRR, an induced current ows around the two rings through the geometrical capacitance of the coplanar strips. e circular current successively produces the internal magnetic eld and this results in the magnetic responses.
