Abstract

In this paper, an optimal power allocation and rate adaptation scheme is proposed to maximize the user Quality of Experience (QoE) of scalable video streaming over multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) networks. The proposed scheme utilizes the wireless resources to accommodate multiple users consuming different video contents more efficiently under limited propagation power and spectrum. The optimal power allocation scheme is derived based on convex optimization and an effective algorithm is proposed to select the best modulation set to control the transmission rate of each scalable video layer. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can achieve more favorable performance than water- filling algorithm and any other power allocation scheme in terms of the sum-utility measure and QoE.
