Lasing of Cd3(AsxP1–x)2solid solutions

Abstract

Lasing was observed when Cd3(AsxP1–x)2 solid solutions were pumped with optical radiation. The lasing wavelength depending on the composition x ranging from 2.14 μ (x = 0) to 2.45 μ (x = 0.11) at 105 °K. The half-width of the spectrum did not exceed 20 cm−1. The characteristics of the energy band structure of Cd3(AsxP1–x)2 were used in an analysis of the reasons responsible for the steep rise of the lasing threshold in the composition range x > 0.1.
