A New Soft-Switching Interleaved DC-DC Converter with High Voltage Gain

Abstract

This paper presents a new interleaved high step-up DC-DC converter for PV or fuel cell applications. The proposed converter utilizes a coupled inductor and a voltage multiplier to achieve high voltage conversion ratio without extreme duty cycle used. By employing an interleaved operation scheme, the input current ripple and the current stress on the components of the circuit can be reduced. All the active switches can be turned on under zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) condition to reduce the switching losses. Besides, the energy stored in the leakage inductance of the coupled inductor can be recycled, and the reverse-recovery problem of the output diodes can be alleviated. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed converter, a 1 kW prototype circuit with the input voltage of 40V and the output voltage of 400V have been implemented and demonstrated.
