Laser Synthesis Features of Composite Ceramics Y3Al5O12-Y2Ti2O7-Al2O3-Al2TiO5

Abstract

The effect of directed laser treatment on the compacted binary mixtures Al 2 O 3 –Y 2 O 3, Y 2 O 3 –TiO 2 , Al 2 O 3 –TiO 2 and ternary mixtures Al 2 O 3 −Y 2 O 3 −TiO 2 was investigated. It was shown that phase formation occurs within the framework of binary mixtures Al 2 O 3 –Y 2 O 3, Y 2 O 3 –TiO 2 , Al 2 O 3 –TiO 2 and is accompanied by the formation of Y 3 Al 5 O 12 , Y 2 Ti 2 O 7 and Al 2 TiO 5 compounds. The set of phases and microstructures of generated ceramics depend on Al 2 O 3 content and TiO 2 /Y 2 O 3 ratio in initial mixtures. Basing in the obtained results the tentative phase diagram for the Al 2 O 3 –Y 2 O 3 −TiO 2 system was constructed.
