BOOK-CHAPTER

Microemulsions and solubilization by nonionic surfactants

Abstract

The liquid isotropic solution regions in the phase diagrams of water, hydrocarbons and tetraethylene glycol dodecyl ether were determined by direct titration. The results showed that at temperatures close to the Phase Inversion Temperature, PIT, separate regions appeared which contained large amounts of solubilized oil and water. The solutions are of importance for phenomena such as microemulsions, surfactant phases and second solubilization regions.
