TheMultiple ArrayTechnique proposed inthis paper isa lossless compression technique thatinvolves no transformation, andachieves averygoodcompression ratio. Thistechnique isbased onforming three arrays to indicate andcodethechanges intheadjacent pixels. The arrays thusformedcanbefurther compressed using Huffman coding. Thecomputational complexity isgreatly reducedthusproducing faster compressions and decompressions. Duetothecombination ofsimplicity and compression potential ofthistechnique, thealgorithm enjoys thebestofbothworlds. Thistechnique attains compression ratios similar toorsuperior thanthelossless imagecompression standards presently available. Dueto thehighcompression ratio, theaverage bits required to represent apixel isgreatly reduced. Thus, this algorithm is optimally suitedfortelemedicine havingfast transmission rates.
