Abstract

Wireless sensor network have inherent and unique characteristics compared with traditional networks. It consists of light-weight, low power and small size sensor nodes. The paper presents the algorithm for optimizing the lifetime of a wireless sensor network. The model performance optimization using the transmission range and the active/sleep schedule of nodes. We simulated and analyzed different scenarios, where we examined the topological features and performance of the network using OPNET simulator.
