Abstract

The great interest in fiber optic current sensors results from their inherently high voltage isolation which eliminates the ground loop difficulty. Moreover fiber optic cunent sensors have the advaiitages of wide bandwidth, immunity to electromagnetic interference, low cost, and small size, over the traditional mutual inductance type current transducers. Most fiber optic current sensors utilize the Faraday effect.
