Abstract

The irradiated Na 2 TeO 3 ·5 H 2 O single crystal is investigated by ESR method. Three types of stable radicals are observed in this crystal at room temperature. Two of them are identified as TeO 3 - and another is assigned to TeO 2 - radical. The radical structure of a TeO 3 - is assumed to be a pyramidal structure, with slightly different structures of TeO 3 - being observed in the irradiated crystal. The TeO 2 - radical is created by hole trapping and subsequent Te–O bond rupture.
