Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in FeCo/Pt multilayer films

Abstract

Co/Pt multilayer films exhibit a strong perpendicular magnetic anisotropy and a large magneto-optical effect at the short wavelength region. On the other hand, Fe/Pt multilayer films also exhibit an enhancement of magneto-optical effect in the short wavelength region. However, the effective perpendicular anisotropy for Fe/Pt multilayer films is not sufficient for the practical use as a magneto-optical recording media. In this report, perpendicular magnetic anisotropy of FeCo/Pt multilayer films was investigated in order to improve the magnetic properties of Fe/Pt multilayer.
