Fast image reconstruction algorithm for electrical capacitance tomography

Abstract

Electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) is one of process tomography technique which developed rapidly in recent years. The successful application of ECT depends heavily on the image reconstruction speed and quality. A fast iterative reconstruction scheme for electrical capacitance tomography based on the Landweber method was developed. The convergence condition for the new method was discussed. Simulated data were analyzed to evaluate the performance of the method. The effectiveness of the algorithm in reconstructing permittivity images from measured capacitance data was shown. The results indicate that it can produce similar quality images with less reconstruction time when compared to the Landweber iteration algorithm. The new technique can be easily applied to online visualization.
