Slot Fed Broadband Dielectric Resonator Antenna

Abstract

A slot fed dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is investigated experimentally. Using a U-shape narrow slot (the width of slot is about 1 mm), a wideband DRA can be obtained. Because two adjacent modes can be induced simultaneously; then, the bandwidth can be enhanced by these two adjacent modes. The bandwidth of narrow U-shape wide slot reaches about 13%. By this design, the bandwidth is enhanced almost four times more than the pure slot fed dielectric resonator antenna with presented materials.
