Scatternet Formation Algorithm in Multi-hop Environment based on Bionics

Abstract

There are very few scatternet formation algorithms among Bluetooth devices in multi-hop dynamical environment at present. The paper proposes a new BBSF(based on bionics scatternet formation) algorithm, using the ad hoc property of swarm intelligence clustering pattern from the research of living being's group behaviors. BBSF achieves the merging of scatternet subnets using a tree-like but 'not true tree' topology structure, and achieves the control of the merging of scatternet concisely and efficiently. It provides a new design method of distributed dynamical net formation in multi-hop environment. Using NS-2 (network simulator) and it's expand plug-in component, the paper simulates the BBSF algorithm in different environments and conditions, and compares its property with those of a traditional net forming algorithm of the Bluetooth scatternet. The result shows the better property of BBSF.
