Differential detection acquisition in multiple-access time-hopping ultra-wideband communications

Abstract

Differential detection acquisition (DDA) is a novel rapid acquisition approach proposed in Zhang et al. (2003) for the time-hopping (TH) sequence in ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless communications. This paper extends the approach to the multiple-access TH UWB system. Acquiring a TH sequence in the multiuser case is described. The acquisition probability and mean acquisition time are analyzed mathematically in detail. The computer simulation results are also given.
