Abstract

Estimation of boundaries of objects in noisy images is considered when the objects and the background are statistically characterized. The noise is assumed white, additive, and Gaussian. Optimal recursive estimators in a joint estimation-detection context are derived. Applications to binary pictures are illustrated.
