Asymmetric Magnetization Reversal and Angular Dependence in Perpendicular Exchange-Biased Pd/Co Multilayers

Abstract

In this paper, we have investigated the magnetization reversal motion and the angular dependence of Pd/Co ferromagnetic (F) multilayers with perpendicular anisotropy covered by an antiferromagnetic (AF) FeMn layer. We have used EHE and VSM to determine the easy axis of magnetization and angular dependence of the magnetic characteristics at room temperature. The hyteresis loop displays a perpendicular exchange bias Hs = 110 Oe and a coercivity He = 430 Oe.These results indicate that the asymmetry effects can be understood for smaller interface F-AF coupling and strong F anisotropy.Pd/Co multilayers with FeMn exhibits a strong out-of-plane anisotropy and a loop shirt. The hysteresis loops measured MR and VSM method reveal the asymmetry of the magnetization reversal in F/AF multilayers which is caused by the uniaxial and unidirectional anisotropy.
