A two-dimensional large scale laser digitizer with a cordless cursor was developed with a new technology. This coordinate detecting method is based on the triangle measurement method in which laser beams are incident on a rotating mirror from two directions and the position of the cursor can be detected by measuring the angles. A simple appropriate model for calculating the coordinates of the cursor is proposed. The model provides an easy way for setting devices, and also high accuracy measurement. The time required for setting devices is about 5 minutes and the average accuracy of the 4m * 3m digitizer is within /spl plusmn/ 0.12 mm.< >
