The main aim of this paper is to analyze, through the study of some of Lopez-Pinero´s works, his points of view on the classical discussions about the relationship between History of Medicine and History of Science. Indeed, the George Sarton- Henry Sigerist controversy, that took place in the 1930s, has continued, in a way, until now. A systematic review of Lopez-Pinero´s contribution allows us to clarify and approach the meaning of his legacy on the subject, both theoretical and practical.
