Reduced-complexity multipath interference cancellation technique

Abstract

A reduced-complexity multipath interference cancellation (MPIC) technique based on dynamic way for choosing the most significant interference items to be cancelled is proposed in the paper. Two selection criteria of the preferred interference are introduced. In method A, only interference resulted from the strongest multipath signals are cancelled by MPIC. The fundamental behind this method is that the strength of interference is proportional to the power of the corresponding multipath signals. In method B, the interference between each pair of multipath signals is divided into two portions, only the larger portion is removed by MPIC. The complexity of MPIC can be reduced substantially by this technique. The proposed technique is employed in a wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) communication system. The simulation results verified the performance.
