Abstract

A 100-Mb/s pulse position modulation generator is presented for impulse-radio ultra-wideband applications. The pulse generator provides a data rate of 100 Mb/s and a pulse width of 1 ns. To achieve an accurate pulse position and pulse width, a mixed-mode calibration circuit is used to calibrate the output buffer of the delay-locked loop. The proposed circuit has been fabricated in a 0.35-mum CMOS process. After the calibration, the measurement results show that both the pulse-width error and the pulse-position error are less than 4%
