Frequency tuning of optical parametric oscillator based on periodically poled optical superlattice LiNbO/sub 3/ by electro-optic effect

Abstract

Summary form only given. Recently, more and more interest has been paid to periodically poled optical superlattice LiNbO/sub 3/ (PPLN) because of the advantages of quasi phase matching (QPM). To date, various optical parametric oscillators (OPO) in PPLN have been demonstrated. However, almost all the devices are tuned by changing the temperature, which is slow and complicated. It is beneficial to find a rapid and simple tuning method. In this report, electro-optic frequency tuning of PPLN OPO by applying a periodic electric field on the crystal is proposed.
