Enhancements on TINA connection management

Abstract

This paper describes a contribution to connection management. The contribution is motivated mainly by shortcomings in the specifications of the TINA (Telecommunications Information Networking Architecture) connection management architecture: in particular, it is considered to be too difficult to use. The TINA specifications are based on the ODP binding model. In this model, connection management is viewed as an explicit binding service, that is, a binding service that can be controlled from the service components. Starting from this binding model, we propose a way to structure TINA connection management services. As a result, we achieve important simplifications on the current specification.
