A novel cross-layer scheduling algorithm for IEEE 802.16 WMAN

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a novel cross layer scheduling strategy for IEEE 802.16 WMAN. The proposed scheduler will first guarantee all the prescribed QoS requirements, then take into account different wireless channel conditions obtained by subscriber stations to enhance the system throughput while it ensures the property of the fairness per connection. The performance of our scheduler is evaluated via simulations. The simulation results show that our proposed scheduler can provide diverse QoS guarantees, use the wireless bandwidth efficiently and achieve an optimum tradeoff between throughput and fairness.
