Relay Selection in Two-Hop IEEE 802.16 Mobile Multi-Hop Relay Networks

Abstract

The IEEE 802.16's relay task group has introduced multi-hop relay station to the IEEE 802.16 wireless MAN networks, which are called mobile multi-hop relay(MMR) networks. In this paper we consider one of the MMR situations: fixed relay in two-hop networks and the selection algorithm is centralized controlled by base station of MMR (MR-BS). We propose a relay selection algorithm based on quality-of-service (QoS). The algorithm is compared with shortest distance selection algorithm by simulation. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can improve performance of system in accordance with the signal to-noise-rate (SNR) and latency.
