POSS Based Electrolytes for Rechargeable Lithium Batteries

Abstract

A class of electrolytes based on polyethylene oxide (PEO)-functionalized polyhedral oligosilsesquioxanes or PEO(n)-POSS] and lithium salts was developed, where 4, 〈8〉, 〈12.5〉 ethylene oxide units. Conductivities (σ) of these highly branched, nonvolatile (375°C), viscous polymers were at 50°C and at room temperature (RT), comparable to conductivities of oligomeric PEOs The values of were between and so that σ at approached Strong self-supporting films (tensile strength 3.7 MPa) from 10% methyl cellulose and 90% had RT conductivities © 2004 The Electrochemical Society.
