Energy-Efficient Power Allocation for OFDM-Based Cognitive Radio Systems with Imperfect Spectrum Sensing

Abstract

Based on existing sensing technology, namely imperfect spectrum sensing, we study an energy efficient power allocation problem for OFDM-based cognitive radio systems, and its optimal solution is derived, and further an energy efficient power allocation scheme is proposed. The proposed scheme can not only save valuable resource such as battery life by selectively allocating power to underutilized sub carriers, but also fully make use of the limited spectrum resource.
