3-Dimensional MMSE Channel Estimation in Multi-antenna OFDM Systems

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a three-dimensional (3-D) \nchannel estimation (CE) scheme to reduce the mean square error \n(MSE) in multi-antenna orthogonal frequency division \nmultiplexing (OFDM) systems. Exploiting the channel correlation \nin the spatial domain as well as in the frequency and time domain, \nthe proposed 3-D CE scheme can outperform conventional twodimensional \n(2-D) CE schemes, by either reducing the MSE with \nthe same complexity or providing the same MSE performance \nwith less complexity. Simulation results show that the proposed \nscheme is quite effective in the presence of spatial correlation.
