Modeling bittorrent-like peer-to-peer systems

Abstract

We propose a statistical model to describe the evolution of BitTorrent, one of the most popular peer-to-peer applications. Our model is validated against the real traces obtained from the Internet, and the results show that the computed traces are highly consistent with the real ones.
