Development of Standards for Interconnecting Distributed Generators with Electric Power Systems

Abstract

The need for interconnecting distributed generators or DG's with electric power systems has raised a number of technical issues that has resulted in the development of new interconnection standards. The paper summarizes the most important requirements and issues as these relate to existing DG interconnection standards and guidelines in a worldwide context. The requirements may be classified as: general specifications and requirements, safety and protection requirements, and power quality requirements. The paper also describes and classifies new standards and guidelines that are currently under development
