Face detection and gender detection using principal component analysis (PCA)

Abstract

Till today various methods have been proposed for face detection and simultaneously a number of method have also been proposed and implemented for gender detection. In this paper we have proposed a combined approach for face detection and gender detection. We have used the concept of principal component analysis. The crux of the work lies in the mathematical formulation of mean square error since it will give us the indication for the female or male candidates' face, hence gender detection. We even have performed color transformation. We have used histogram and technique for reduction of block size in this paper.
