Performance Analysis of Two-Way Amplify-and-Forward Relaying with Beamforming over Nakagami-m Fading Channels

Abstract

The performance of a two-way relay system with beamforming is investigated over Nakagami-m fading channels. Our analysis considers an amplify-and-forward relay system consisting of two terminals equipped with multiple antennas, and a variable-gain relay with a single antenna. Exact closed-form expressions for the outage probabilities of two unidirectional links of the two-way system are derived, respectively. Furthermore, the lower and upper bounds on the outage probabilities are formulated, and the diversity and coding gains of two unidirectional links are determined too. Finally, Monte Carlo simulations are presented to validate our formulations.
