Design Considerations for a New Ac-Dc Single-Stage Flyback Converter

Abstract

A new buck-boost type converter that can operate with a low dc bus voltage that is significantly less variable than that of other single-stage converters is proposed in the paper. In the paper, the general properties of buck-boost converters are reviewed, the operation of the proposed converter is discussed and its various modes of operation are explained. The design of the converter is also examined in detail and its feasibility of the converter is confirmed with results obtained from an experimental prototype.
