Abstract

This article studies the social and political thought regarding youth in Ecuador and Latin America. It traces the development of the dominant theoretical perspective on this subject since the 1980s and describes how Ecuadorian public policies that decade have followed this perspective. Specifically, it characterizes the promotion of youth related public policies and, in addition, it summarizes the texts that refer to them. Finally, it asessess the impact these policies have had on the formulation of new national priorities.
