Correlated Rayleigh fading envelopes with spread spectrum applications

Abstract

A procedure for generating N Rayleigh fading envelopes with any desired covariance matrix is proposed. This numerical method enables researchers to generate correlated fading envelopes, for use in (a) the study of the impact of correlation on frequency diversity system performance, and (b) the simulation of multi-carrier spread spectrum schemes (MC-CDMA and CIMA), where the number of carriers exceeds the degrees of system diversity.
