Synthesis of Cds quantum dots by reverse micelle method

Abstract

CdS quantum dots have been synthesized from the precursors CdCl2 and Na2S via micro emulsion method at room temperature. Cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) and 1-pentanol were used as emulsifying agents in water in hexane solution. The crystalline phase, surface morphology and optical properties have been studied through PXRD, HRSEM, UV-Vis and Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. From the study the size of the nanocrystal was found as 2.5 nm.
