Energy-efficient and QoS-aware routing protocol for wireless sensor networks

Abstract

Wireless sensor networks have become increasingly attractive in recent years due to its applications in diverse fields such as defense security and medical research. Energy is a serious issue in WSN due to the use of computationally-constrained and resource-constrained micro-sensors, which further make an impact on the performance of WSN. For energy-constrained wireless sensor networks, we present an Energy-aware low-delay QoS Routing (EDR) protocol, which reduce average energy consumption for the sensor nodes, further improve network lifetime. Simulation results show that EDR achieve high performance in terms of energy efficiency.
