The achievement by means of a tube-rod process of a single-mode full polymer optical fiber (SPOF) for the first time is reported. Its diameter can match with that of the usual silica single-mode fiber. Losses lower than 0.25 dB/cm in the near infrared spectrum are consistent with its use as a guiding medium for integrated optical functions.< >
