A framework for developing mobile, context-aware applications

Abstract

The emergence of truly ubiquitous computing, enabled\nby the availability of mobile, heterogenous devices that supply\ncontext information, is currently hampered by the lack\nof programming support for the design and development of\ncontext-aware applications.\nWe have developed a framework which significantly\neases the development of mobile, context-aware applications.\nThe framework allows developers to fuse\ndata from disparate sensors, represent application context,\nand reason efficiently about context, without the\nneed to write complex code. An event based communication\nparadigm designed specifically for ad-hoc wireless\nenvironments is incorporated, which supports loose coupling\nbetween sensors, actuators and application components.\n1
