A novel fairness criterion for input queued switches

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a new fairness criterion-queue proportional fairness (QPF)- that employs the cell loss ratio as the fairness metric to improve the utilization of switch resources. In QPF, bandwidth allocation is implemented by considering both available bandwidths and buffer occupancies of competing best effort traffic.
