Shadow detection of color urban aerial images

Abstract

Cast shadow is a common phenomenon in remote sensing (RS) images. Dark vegetation areas in RS images are apt to be mis-detected in shadow detection. In this paper, an improved shadow detection method was presented base on the spectral feature of shadows. Based on the green component is larger in vegetation areas, construct the mask of vegetation areas. Aim to the complex areas of urban images, detect shadow areas more accurate.
